2015 07 25 & 26 - Sydenham Weekend 1: Walters Falls to St. Vincent Townline (25-26 July) "Doris' Trail / Karen's Trail"

Two days of hiking near Owen Sound!  

Day 1: Walters Falls to Bognor Marsh (18.3 km)
Day 2: Bognor Marsh to St. Vincent Townline  (17 km)

We have shortened the distance for Day 2, as the original hike was expected to be 25 km, and a trail closure has increased this further.

Hi Folks,

We are getting close so lets pray for good weather!

We are planning to drive up the Friday night before the hike, and I plan to stay in Owen Sound. Others are staying at various places in the area, so we will plan to meet at the starting point Saturday morning at 9:00 AM to allow us to get oriented. We hope to meet for dinner that evening so give so anyone familiar with the area please feel free to suggest a suitable spot. There has been some tweaking of our planned distances to make it a bit more manageable, and Don was kind enough to do the review.

Hike details for July 25th & 26th.

Saturday's hike will be the same as previously noted on the schedule at 18.3km. Sunday's hike will be 15km and finish just north of County Rd #26 on St. Vincent/Sydenham Townline near Woodford.

Saturday: Meet at 9:00 am at the intersection of Grey County Rd #18 & Concession Rd #4 on the south edge of the Bognor Marsh, the end of Saturday's hike.

We will then travel to the start of our hike and park near 140 Front St., (right next to The Falls Inn & Spa) in Walters Falls.

Please let us know if you are joining us so we can plan our car pooling accordingly.

Hello All,

The Ramsdens and the Bensons have booked rooms at Kelly's Inn for the Friday and Saturday nights in the hamlet of Kilsyth. On Fridays, the Kellys do a special chicken dinner (i'm guessing country / family dinner style). They don't usually do a dinner on Saturday, but because we are staying at their B& B, they would do a dinner for us and others in our group. They would be willing to make their chicken dinner again or another dinner for our group, including a vegetarian option. The full dinner (main course, veggies, salad and home baked dessert) would be approx. $20. If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible.

Hello Hikers,

Thank you for the response regarding the dinner at our B&B. I will contact our hosts this weekend to confirm dinner plans. Before I call the Kellys, I would like to know if you are all okay with their Jet Air Rotisserie Chicken for dinner or if there are any dietary concerns to pass on to them.
Looking forward to next weekend. Wouldn't it be lovely if the weather stayed like this!

Hello All,

I have confirmed with our hosts at Kelly's Inn that there will be 12 hikers for their rotisserie chicken dinner on Saturday at 6:30pm. They do not have a liquor licence, but because we are guests there (and at our home away from home), we can bring our own wine to the dinner.
The 12 of us are: Gossette, Denny, Christian, Karen, Marylou, Barb, Marg, Sue F., Doris, Peter, Don and Aggie.
