2016 05 14- Iroquoia Hike #5 - Mount Nemo (Walkers Line) to Crawford Forestry Tract

Approx hike length 15.5km. Starting at the 87.0 marker on map 10 of the Bruce Trail Guide, finishing at the 102.5 marker.

We're looking forward to this weekend's hike, which will be our second-last for Iroquoia Club!

Current forecast is for showers and 11C, so make sure to pack a light waterproof shell.

As usual, we'll meet at the end point at 8:45 AM to shuttle back to our start point.  This location is on Twiss Rd, near Crawford Lake

For those who have the Bruce Trail app, this is Parking ID I_071 located at Lat: 43.4477428795981  Lon: -79.95343589343693

We will shuttle back to the start at the entrance to Mount Nemo, which is where we finished our April hike, at the 87 km marker shown on Map 10 of the Bruce Trail Guide. This is  the roadside parking on Number 2 Sideroad and Walkers Line.

This route is approximately 15.4 km, from Mount Nemo to Crawford Lake.  If we have people doing shorter sections, there are several parking areas between 5k and 11k where we could drop a shuttle car.

These are the flower plants that I noted on the trail last Saturday:

• White Trillium (and it variety with green striations and six petals)
  Red Trillium
  Jack-in-the-Pulpit
  Marsh Marigold
  Trout Lily (Dog-Toothed Violet), although flowers were passed
  May Apple (again, flowers passed)
  Large-Flowered Bellwort
  Early Meadow Rue
  Wild Strawberry
  Violet
  Downy Yellow Violet
  

Uncertain:

• either Long-Spurred Violet or Northern White Violet
  either Round-Lobed or Sharp-Lobed Hepetica
  either Smooth or False Solomon's Seal
  

Need help to verify:

• Wild Geranium (in leaf only)
  Bloodroot (in leaf only)
  Yellow Mandarin (Fairy Bells)

This is an impressive list! I took a photo of a beautiful mushroom which l think may be Oyster mushroom. The photo is near the end of the Mt Nemo hike photos, which has been added to our hike photo album. If someone can validate that it would be nice.

Hi Everyone. I was successful in booking a hotel room in Owen Sound for the July hike. Rooms seem to be in short supply. I suggest you book now if you haven't already. I tried to book a room for August and there were no suitable ones available. We may need to look at B&B's or sleep outside!
