2015 04 25 - Niagara Hike 2: Across the Welland Canal (25 April) "Mary Lou's Trail"

Our next hike is scheduled for 25 April 2015!  After our first one, we're all fired up to do more

This leg will take us from our last location and across the Welland Canal, which should be interesting.  As a result, there is a bit more urban/road hiking than the last segment, and the overall distance is longer--if the last took us 4 1/2, I would expect it to take 5-6 hours, depending on group speed.

We'll use this thread to post updates and information regarding the hike.

Sounds like the group had a great day--excellent weather and smooth hiking with relatively little mud and no ice!

There are a few of us who were unable to make it so we are going to be running the section on Saturday (May 2)

Sue, Karen and I had a fun time running this section of trail. The weather was perfect, there were no bugs yet, and we only got off course three times (which, of course, occurred while we were chatting).

We ran this in the reverse direction--starting at the Wiley Road parking lot, and finishing at the same spot we finished our first hike, at Woodland Conservation Area parking lot.

I carried a backpack with basic first-aid supplies, phone etc.. We used all of our water on the run, so we were glad to get back to the car for a drink. We'll make sure to carry more water next time--I think I'll integrate my camel-back with the larger backpack to keep water easily accessible.

All in all, a fun day!
